‘Cover Stories, Vol 1’ is Ben Parcell’s third studio album. It is a collection of songs by artists who have influenced, supported and given him advice since starting up as a solo artist in 2010.
Ben says: “I think it’s important to recognise local and roots music as we live in an age where the mainstream is mostly interested in chart music and the X Factor. While I wish all the best for artists who choose to take the talent show route, there are many local artists with amazing talents and superior songwriting skills, who don’t get that mainstream broadcast, but deserve it equally. I’ve been lucky enough to be granted permission by all of the artists on my album.”

The songs on the album range from better-known musicians including York based, Chris Helme, from the ‘90s band ‘The Seahorses’ and East Yorkshire based folk songstress Edwina Hayes. Edwina says; “A tireless supporter of local music, Ben has been an active participant in the East Yorkshire acoustic scene for several years now and I’m very honoured he has chosen to cover one of my songs.’

The album also showcases the melodic and articulate song ‘Jetsam’ penned by the extremely talented, Bridlington Singer-songwriter, Sam McKie, 20, who says; "It was a real honour to have one of my songs included on a collection of high standard of songwriters, the album twists and turns with each new song and artist. Brilliant acoustic songs striped down to just guitar and vocals; Ben's made something really great here."
